Corvey

En route back from a pleasant stay at Stadtoldoldendorf we took in Corvey Schloss which was overwhelming to say the least





This is the interior of the attached church




Whilst the attention to fine detail is not the same as some of the religious places we’ve visited the fact that is so much going on tends to make up for it and your first impression leaves you in awe






These doors led in to room after room of libraries with leather bound books jammed in to what we thought were walnut bookcases




The guide explained that this, at 10000 books was just a small part of the entire collection totalling over 70000 books. Asked why so many...he said at the time a large collection of fine books was seen as a status symbol and was a true sign of wealth





Yes we went here too, but only bought one bottle alas
