Sainte-Mere-Eglise

Possibly the longest I've gone without adding a post to the blog so apologies then to my reader LOL
We've been really busy back here in the UK, more of that in subsequent posts

Our quick hop back to the UK from Spain took around 6 days which is quite fast for us really and took in Pau and a very nice afternoon at Sainte-Mere-Eglise in Normandy

We by chance discovered the famed village of Sainte-Mere-Eglise on our route to Cherbourg ready for the ferry to Poole

The night of 5/6 June 1944 forever etched in the village's history

The Yanks would love a quick trim here surely

A few hours spent here will give a very good and informative view of the airborne invasion by the Americans to liberate and gain control of the Cherbourg peninsula during WW2

Sadly many guys never got the chance to fight having perished in botched landings of the purpose built gliders

If you're passing this way one day give the museum and village a visit if only to pay respect to those that fought and gave their young lives for us

We found the village a little touristy yes but still good value particularly if you wanted to eat out whilst here with prices below the French average

Next stop Blighty and an RV with well...an RV!
